My entire career has been focused on challenge regarding water resources management, including water supply, water quality, watershed protection, water infrastructure and regional environmental planning and management. As Professor of Practice for Water, Society and the Environment at Rutgers University, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (2012-2024), I mixed teaching, research and public service responsibilities. Much of my recent research has focused on water infrastructure and its relationship to sustainability and affordability, in projects for New Jersey Future, a non-profit "good growth" organization, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and a variety of other clients. Prior to joining Rutgers, I spent over 26 years with the New Jersey state government agencies, working as a manager with the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council, NJ Water Supply Authority and NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and got my start with the Passaic River Coalition (NJ) as Technical Director. I am a licensed planner in NJ, and a 2020 inductee to the College of Fellows, American Institute of Certified Planners.
